How Does Ultraviolet Disinfection (UV) Work?

UV water disinfection is a natural, environmentally friendly process which does not add any chemicals into your water and does not change the water chemistry. Ultraviolet light energy inactivates harmful microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, effectively preventing them from causing illness. The pathogens are destroyed in the time water passes through the disinfection chamber.

It is necessary for the UV light to have contact with the microorganisms. Water quality will adversely affect the efficacy of any UV disinfection system. Therefore, your source water needs to fall into certain water quality parameters in order for effective UV disinfection to occur. The Greenway^®Water Treatment Guide outlines those parameters.

How are Greenway^® UV systems different than other UV systems on the market?

At Greenway Water Technologies, we take your water treatment seriously and have designed our Greenway^®UV systems with our customers in mind. Each of our UV systems is low maintenance, easy to use. The UV chamber is manufactured from a high-grade stainless steel and our efficient UV lamp provides up to one year of UV protection -check out our exceptional UV warranty! The Greenway^®electronic controller (the ballast) provides power to the UV lamp and effectively controls the system diagnostics.

There are three categories of Greenway^®Ultraviolet water treatment systems, each with its own unique features and characteristics based on UV dosage and water flow requirements. Greenway^®Standard UV systems are our fundamental double-ended chamber UV system and are available in sizes 2 gpm-12 gpm. Greenway^®Advance UV Systems are our single ended chamber units with axial flow and are available from 1 gpm-40 gpm and an added feature is our proprietary VuCap that allows our customersto set Uv that lamp is on. The Greenway^®Pro UV Systems are currently under development and will be available in 2012.

Unique to Greenway Water Technologies, is our Greenway UV Disinfection Minirack System . This system comes complete with both sediment and carbon block prefiltration, an 8gpm UV chamber, ballast, UV lamp and quartz sleeve. All components are preassembled onto a rack system for easy installation for whole home use.
